Lions Who Lunch
This book is written for older children and adults who have been victims of abuse. Its theme is to help them regain their sense of
damaged power and lost control and to help them learn the tools necessary to prevent revictimization. This small book reads like a
fairytale to appeal to the wounded child within. And, although designed to resemble a children's book, the author advises that a caring
adult should guide younger victimized children through the lesson.

Excellent resource for therapists!, July 3, 2009
By Bruce A. Fleischer
I shared this book with my pastor's wife and she shared it with many ladies, all of whom loved it! I have personally seen the reaction
to this book by clients in sessions. It is a powerful tool, often helping to open the door on a client's victimization. The book provides a
person, whether they have been victimized or not, with great, applicable information. As someone who has worked for over 15 years
in the social services field, I highly recommend this book!
How This Book Helped My Granddaughter, June 12, 2009
By Carla A. Roberts (Columbia, MO)
Fortunately, my 11-year-old granddaughter has not been sexually abused, but she has been bullied. Her interpretation of the book
centered around protecting herself from bullies. Although she has been a part of that circle of friends who unite to shut the bully out,
she still has very strong feelings about the abuse inflicted by those who chose to hurt others-emotionally and physically. The book
gave us an opportunity to discuss the advantages of telling those in authority about hurtful situations. I believe the book can give
children with low self esteem hope in knowing that there are those who will help and listen. I highly recommend the book.
A Good Treatment of a Difficult Subject, June 9, 2009
By Tasha Halpert (Grafton, MA United States)
Janice McGowan's book Lions Who Lunch is an excellent descripton of what makes a victim attractive to victimizers. It is clearly
and entertainingly put and wisely said, as well. I would hope that many therapists would keep this slim, easy to understand volume
handy for their clients. The fact that it treats of a very delicate subject in a delicate and careful way is a real plus. Although it is set in
such a way that a child can understand it, it is also going to appeal to the youngster in us all, the inner child, who needs support and
caring as well as the knowledge that she or he is innocent and blameless. I do hope that many people will find this book helpful and
able to help them to heal from the wounds of abuse. I would recommend it to all ages. Tasha Halpert
